Rolls or rolling machinery are machines used for manipulating the shape of straightened metal into a rolled shape. There are two major categories of rolling machines; plate rolls and angle rolls. Both styles operate by drawing and then pinching the unformed metal through 3 or 4 metal cylinders. The positioning of the rolls dictates the radius of the bend. Unlike a plate roll, an angle roll utilizes tooling which gives it the capability to roll such shapes as a tube, angle iron, or square bar.
