CNC punches or CNC punch presses form shapes in blank sheet metal by punching the material with a profiled punch die. Unlike a CNC laser or plasma machine, which is faster at cutting larger complex shapes, a CNC punch is faster at cutting smaller shapes from a uniquely shaped punch die. This feature in conjunction with a turret-style head and multi-sheet handling automation systems further opens up the door for mass-producing parts at very quick speeds.
