Gear machinery is used to turn blank material into gears. This process is done by utilizing special gear-cutting tooling to shape the edges of the blank material into a series of toothed edges. There are a variety of machines to do this process. The most common machines are gear hobbers or gear shapers. Once the teeth are formed the process can be further optimized by utilizing a gear-grinding machine. These machines will help give the teeth a smoother finish.
